PentairFairbanks Nijhuis Supplies Firefighting Pump for LNG Terminal in Singapore
Winterswijk (the Netherlands) – February 7th, 2017 – Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis recently delivered a firefighting pump for the expansion of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal in Singapore.
The pump meets the highest international standards, is made of seawater-resistant, super duplex material, offers a capacity of 1878 m3 / hour, and is powered by a 1860 kW diesel engine. Samsung C & T awarded Pentair’s Fairbanks Nijhuis a multi-million dollar contract to supply the firefighting pump for the third phase of the LNG Terminal expansion. This expansion involves a fourth LNG storage tank and additional regasification facilities to bring the Terminal’s send-out capacity from the current 6 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) to approximately 11 Mtpa. At 260,000 m3, this fourth LNG storage tank will be the largest in the world and is capable to receive a full cargo load from a Q-Max carrier, currently the largest LNG carrier in the world.
According to Ron Sieben, Global Sales Director, Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis: “At approximately 40 hectares, this site is one of the largest LNG terminals in the world. As LNG is very flammable and highly explosive, there are high demands on the fire extinguishing arrangement. We delivered a firefighting pump solution that met stringent criteria, including the tough emission standards in Singapore, the NFPA 20 standard and the installation’s ambient noise requirement to remain below 85 decibels.”
For an earlier phase of this project, Fairbanks Nijhuis previously delivered five horizontal pumps. Ron Sieben: “Our proven experience with Samsung C & T demonstrated our ability to provide exceptional technical design and product features, as well as our high standard of service and support.”
